Chartier: Advocates of Freed Markets Should Embrace “Anti-Capitalism”

C4SS Advisory Panel member Gary Chartier will give the following presentation in April to the Association of Private Enterprise Education — Advocates of Freed Markets Should Embrace “Anti-Capitalism”[PDF]. A ready for print version.

“Defenders of freed markets have good reason to identify their position as a species of ‘anti-capitalism.’ To explain why, I distinguish three potential meanings of ‘capitalism’ before suggesting that people committed to freed markets should oppose capitalism in my second and third senses. Then, I offer some reasons for using ‘capitalism’ as a label for some of the social arrangements to which freed-market advocates should object.”    —Gary Chartier

  1. I can only say that, if I were but a stew of my present ideas, you have provided the fire to correlate these ideas into a veritable truth upon which I can feast most heartily. Your piece was most beautiful and profound to me. To say "thank you" would be an understatement.
